I blinked, and just like that, it’s 2018! I had so many wonderful December articles planned for the blog but due to a new job, holiday travels, and life, I decided to shift my focus to getting my ducks in a row then start 2018 with a bang! So I’m here, ready to tackle the blog year by bringing you content rich posts and hopefully start slowly spilling the beans on our secret-ish elopement this year!

So while everyone was busy creating year long, short lived resolutions and focusing on the ‘new year, new me’ mantras, I was asking myself what my hopes and long term goals were for The Mid-Coast Home? Among this list was to collaborate with a Michigan based company and/or brand, and lucky for me Marie La Mode asked me to kick off their 'Bloggers Favorites' section and I was elated.

Based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan and owned by the wonderful Liz Haan, they’re a mobile women’s clothing boutique that bring the shopping experience to you. Having worked for a retail architecture firm for over two years, her business model is what initially drew me to her and her company. You get that tactile experience intertwined with convenience along with a stylist there to answer any of your questions all wrapped in a pretty Marie La Mode bow.

They of course also have an e-commerce site with great up-to-date photos on their current inventory, upcoming events, and contact information if you’re looking to book your own Marie La Mode gathering/party/get together!

Shout out of Liz for getting me out from behind the camera and actually in front of it; it’s always been a hesitation of mine, but I dove in head first and it’s another check off of my 2018 blog goals!

To set the tone for the year to come and to leave this post on a high note, Marie La Mode is giving my readers 15% off their total purchase with the code TMCH15 to shop to your hearts content!

When it comes to shopping for the right fit on anything it's somewhat cumbersome for me being 5'-0" and in between sizes, but with Marie La Mode, I was able to e-mail them my concerns on fit, what sizes I tend to be between and trusted in their expertise on which size they thought would work best on my frame! I'm wearing the She Jacket in Small and what I love is how the length is just perfect! It sits just low enough to where I can use it as a 'Coatigan' once the temps warm up, and it's not too short to where I can't pair it with leggings. I'm a huge fan of versatile pieces, so for me this one is a winner!

The devil is in the details and what drew me to this jacket was the lush evergreen plush-like fabric which is incredibly soft to the touch, zip up pockets because I can't live without pockets in the winter, and the faux leather piping details near the zipper which are subtle, but add that touch of refinement taking this jacket from day to night!

Short Girl Tip: Always get your pants hemmed to the length you want them otherwise it'll look odd fitting and you'll never wear them! I have to take 99.9% of my pants to get tailored which is okay because jeans are tricky for petite girls. So for me…

I have to take 99.9% of my pants to get tailored which is okay because jeans are tricky for petite girls. So for me, as long as the hip and inseam fit well I really only need them to be hemmed.
